"The Big Ass Fans are extraordinary. Racehorses are million dollar animals that can't be spooked - anything that would create noise or heat was usless. When you have something like Essence that moves the air silently, that's perfect. They ought to be installed at every racing venue."

The Problem

Visiting owners, riders and thoroughbreds expect world-class conditions when they saddle up at historic Santa Anita Race Track. The racehorse saddling are, which is partially enclosed and non air conditioned, got unbearably hot during racing season. handlers tried hosing horses down, but it was time-consuming and unwieldy. Before hosting the 2014 Breeders' Cup, Vice President of Racing Rick Hammerle reached out to experts in the equine industry for a solution to keep riders and thoroughbreds cool and calm before their big races.

The Solution

The team at Santa Anita installed seven Essence fans, which move smoothly and silently to provide vital cooling breezes for both riders and horses - without spooking the mounts. "Horse health is out number one priority", said Hammerle. "Everyone who takes a horse through here says these fans are the greatest thing we've done for them." The Essence fan, designed for style, silence and functionality, integrates seamlessly into Santa Antia's signature mix of modern and colonial revival architecture.
