Objectives

Foodstuffs North Island, a leading company in the food distribution industry, was determined to find an innovative cooling solution to combat the scorching hot days that their hardworking staff had to endure. Recognizing the importance of creating a comfortable working environment, they sought a system that would not only provide effective cooling but also offer flexibility in its operation. The ability for their staff to have control over their own comfort levels was a top priority. To ensure a seamless and thorough installation process, Foodstuffs North Island turned to the expertise of Jet Black Fan Systems, a trusted name in the industry.

Challenge

Understanding the unique challenges posed by their vast and high warehouse, Foodstuffs North Island and Jet Black Fan Systems collaborated closely to devise the perfect solution. The sheer size of the building necessitated the use of larger EWP lifts for the installation, as well as very long cable runs. To ensure maximum coverage and cooling airflow for their staff, 12 of the largest HVLS fans were strategically installed across the two main zones of the warehouse, and a smaller HVLS fan installed into the workshop area. This meticulous planning and execution guaranteed that every corner of the facility would benefit from the refreshing coolness generated by the fans.

Health and safety considerations were of paramount importance throughout the installation process. Jet Black Fan Systems took every precaution to ensure the safety of workers outside of the cordoned off zones, adhering to the highest standards of health and safety regulations. This commitment to maintaining a secure working environment further solidified Foodstuffs North Island's confidence in the expertise and professionalism of Jet Black Fan Systems.

Solution

The result of this collaboration was a comprehensive cooling solution that exceeded all expectations. With the installation of the 12 x 7.3m diameter fans and 1 x 4.9m ceiling fan, the two key hot zones in the distribution warehouse and hot engineering workshop were effectively cooled, providing ample air movement even at low speeds. This not only alleviated any concerns about heat in those areas but also created a more comfortable and conducive working environment for the staff. In fact, these fans can be utilized year-round to assist with air mixing, ensuring a fresher and cleaner indoor atmosphere.

Foodstuffs North Island can now rest assured that their staff will be kept cool and comfortable, no matter how scorching the hot days may be. With a system that can be operated both automatically and manually, the staff now has the power to control their own comfort levels, empowering them to work at their best. This collaboration between Foodstuffs North Island, Pensadoors, and Jet Black Fan Systems has truly revolutionized the way cooling is approached in large warehouses, setting the benchmark for excellence in the industry.
